About Us
Trust the ACVS board certified veterinary surgeons at Blackford Veterinary Surgery Referral for your pet’s specialty needs. We focus on advanced surgical procedures that are not performed at your primary care veterinary facility. Examples of these surgeries include TPLOs (our preferred surgery for ACL/CCL tears), MPL correction, fracture repairs, hip dysplasia, arthroscopy, laparoscopic surgery, and a variety of soft tissue procedures. Over the years, we have developed hundreds of relationships with surrounding veterinarians to earn their trust with their patients. To be referred to our practice, please visit your primary care veterinary hospital first. If it is determined that your pet needs our services, your primary care veterinarian will send us a referral, and we will contact you to set up an appointment.
Surgery
Our three ACVS board certified veterinary surgeons are here to provide primary care veterinary hospitals with a referral based surgical practice. We perform surgeries that require specialized state-of-the-art equipment with a staff trained specifically in anesthesia. Since opening in 1997, Blackford Veterinary Surgery Referral has always taken pride in providing our community and surrounding states with impeccable veterinary care and undeniably high standards of patient care. Clients can rely on trustworthy, safe, professional, and thorough care from the highly trained staff at Blackford Veterinary Surgery Referral.
Rehabilitation
We are thrilled to be offering rehabilitation services to our clients. Our services include underwater treadmill, land treadmill, passive range of motion, massage, laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, shockwave therapy, e-stimulation, and weight loss programs! Rehabilitation can be so helpful both before and after surgery. Whether you’re unable to do the home rehabilitation post operatively, or you just need some extra help, our trained staff is ready to help your pet develop strength! A referral is needed from your primary care veterinarian so your pet can be thoroughly evaluated by our surgeons and our rehabilitation specialist. Together, a well-rounded strength plan will be formulated specifically for your pet.
Internal Medicine
Veterinary Internal Medicine Referral, run and operated by Dr. Becke Bogue, is a separate company that resides within our Blackford Veterinary Surgery Referral building. Her referral services started in 2000, and she is most famously known for her ultra-sounding abilities, medical oncology, and internal medicine knowledge. We have a wonderful working relationship with Dr. Bogue, allowing us to utilize each other’s strengths to ensure that both of our clients and patients receive thorough, well-rounded care. A referral must also be obtained by your primary care veterinarian before seeing Dr. Bogue.
Reviews
These people are incredible! They love animals as much as the clients! They have done awesome work with my Australian shepherd and his tendonitis. I recommend them!

Absolutely the best orthopedic veterinarian clinic in Knoxville Tennessee. The doctors and staff are kind and attentive with three best patient care. They were availible and supportive the entire 8 weeks Heidi was healing. They were even availible by text so that we could text pictures and chat whenever we had concerns.

They took amazing care of our dog during her knee surgery. Staff is AMAZING and our dog is running around now with no pain. Can’t say enough good about Blackford. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!
