Entrust your pet's health to the talented and caring staff at Blackford Veterinary Surgery Referral. Most of the surgeries we perform are done on an outpatient basis. Dr. Blackford will examine your pet at the scheduled appointment time and determine the diagnosis and surgical options. If surgery is necessary, it can be performed the same day, if scheduled. Most of our patients are sent home the same day of surgery, but it is also an option for your pet to stay the night with us or with your regular veterinarian. |

• • • • Preparing Your Pet for Surgery
Medical History
Pick up blood work & X-rays from your veterinarian. A detailed medical history is needed if your pet has been treated for several problems.
Medication
Do not give your pet anything containing aspirin 7 days prior to surgery. Antiinflammatories (Rimadyl, Etogesic, Deramaxx, Previcox) are permitted up to 2 days prior to surgery.
The Day Before Surgery
Do not feed or give your pet water after 9 p.m. the night before surgery. These instructions may be altered for very young animals less than 3 months. If you own a bulldog, please call for detailed instructions. |

It is our policy to be straightforward in discussing fees and services. You will be provided with an estimate prior to your pet's admission into the hospital. The cost for specialized services may be greater than previous veterinary bills for routine health care. If there is a financial concern, please notify us in advance, as we do not wish to create any hardship for you. We do accept payment with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. For people without major credit cards, we also offer CareCredit. To see if you qualify go to carecredit.com or call 1-800-859-9975. A deposit of half the estimate will be required at the time of admission. The remainder of the bill is due when you pick up your pet. |
